FAQ
WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a form of Permanent Makeup that is implemented using a handheld tool comprised of 6-18 microneedles in the shape of a blade, hence the name microblade. This technique is performed without using a machine. The pigment is collected with the microblade, which is attached to a handheld device, and then deposited into the epidermis. This technique gives the appearance of extremely fine, crisp, and natural-looking hair strokes.
WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?
Permanent makeup is essentially tattooed makeup. It is the application of custom color blended pigments inserted into the dermal layer of skin to create eyebrows, eyeliner, or lip color. Permanent cosmetics are sometimes referred to as micro-pigmentation. Permanent makeup is great for people that: have asymmetrical facial features, have poor eyesight, have unsteady hands, are physically challenged, have traditional makeup allergies, have watery eyes, have sparse lashes, or eyebrows, travel, swim, sweat, and are pressed for time.
ARE PERMANENT COSMETICS REALLY PERMANENT?
Permanent cosmetics procedures are considered permanent because pigment is tattooed into the upper reticular part of the dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, as with any tattoo or colorant (pigment) in general, fading can and often does occur, requiring periodic maintenance referred to as color re-enhancement or color refreshing. The scientific structure of pigments and the requirement for periodic refreshing is identical to that of tinted hair color; faded material on furniture that may be located near a window and subject to sun exposure; house paint that is exposed to the sun and other environmental elements; pigment implanted in the skin may fade with time. This colorant periodic maintenance requirement is a good opportunity to reevaluate one’s color and design preferences. While the concept of permanent, without any change, may seem like a perfectly good idea, think about how your tastes have changed over the years. From time to time likely you have made subtle or dramatic changes in your clothing preferences, your hair color and style, and if you wear topical makeup, those colors have changed as well. The fact that most people will require periodic color refreshing of their permanent cosmetics is the opportune time to work with your technician to reevaluate your overall appearance profile and determine if any changes are appropriate. Longevity varies from person to person depending on their lifestyle (sun exposure), the color(s) used for the permanent cosmetic procedure, and are also thought to be affected by topical products applied to the skin.
WHO IS IT GOOD FOR?
Obviously the great thing about permanent makeup is that it doesn’t budge. It doesn’t wash off, smear, or run. You will look great after a hot shower or a long workout. Permanent makeup is also great for anybody who just generally has trouble with regular makeup. If you have cosmetic allergies, this can make your life way easier. You don’t have to worry about searching for special products. If you have some other condition that makes it difficult for you to apply makeup, this can be ideal for you. If your hands shake or you just can’t see what you are doing without your glasses, this can be life-changing for your morning routines.
HOW LONG WILL THE NEW BROWS TAKE TO HEAL?
Your brows will go through two healing phases, internal and external. The external healing ranges anywhere from 3-10 days. During this time it is extremely crucial to follow aftercare instructions to achieve your desired outcome. Internal healing takes a full 4 weeks to complete. The brows can not be touched until all healing is complete. You may feel your brows are playing games during the internal healing. This is normal, trust the process.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE?
There are a few misbeliefs, the most common being that it is only for individuals with severe hair loss. Although these clients can benefit from this procedure tremendously, individuals looking to add depth and color will find great value in microblading. It is also a considerable choice for those wanting to correct their brow shape after years of follicle damage due to various epilation methods.
